Indian Sandstone Patio, Laid to Fall
Wilmslow & Cheshire area

Photograph: the company's own work, from its Google Business profile
A natural riven sandstone patio part-way through being laid, set out in a random-coursed pattern of large and small flags against a freshly built brick pier and a rendered wall. A long spirit level lies across the front edge, and spare flags sit stacked on a pallet ready to continue — the levels being worked out so the terrace falls cleanly away from the house.
Groundworks and hard landscaping like this are the base a lot of our extension and renovation projects sit on, and the finish that carries a new room out into the garden. Getting the sub-base, the falls and the coursing right is what keeps a patio flat and draining years later.
